About the Exhibit

Digital Lives of Young Indians by Youth futures studio at Quest Alliance, is part of a larger research study offering a grounded understanding of how young people experience and navigate social media. It captures the insights of young people from school and ITI students across nine field sites and five different states in India – Gujarat, Odisha, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala. The proliferation of the Internet has opened up a parallel universe for young people in India, one that resembles Digital Maidan. The internet becomes a public space where young people replicate and re-invent ways of being, similar to that of their physical lives.

By examining how they consume content, form aspirations, express identity, seek community, and negotiate agency online, this exhibit surfaces the complexity of digital youthhood in contemporary India. It aims to support more empathetic, context-aware and youth centered approaches to learning, media literacy and program design.
